CALL FOR SCORES

Composer/Vocalist Rosśa Crean, along with Peckham Media Productions and Contemporary Opera Connection, is organizing a call for scores for contemporary art song from living composers that are accessible for younger voices, particularly High School and Undergraduate students.

Composers’ works that are accepted will become part of a digital recorded anthology that will be free for both university and private voice instructors. We are currently in discussion with university directors and instructors concerning potential performance showcases of this anthology. Many composers cannot afford the necessary budget to record a full album of their works, but this funding model allows several composers to come together as co-producers at a much lower individual cost.

The total cost for each composer will be $400 USD for their individual recording and performer fees (performers provided by Peckham Media Productions in Chicago, IL). A transparent budget for costs can be seen below in the Budget Allocation section. Unaccompanied pieces will have the pianist’s fee subtracted from their total. The composers will retain the right to share and use these recordings for any personal and professional purposes.

For submission preparation, please have ready:

1) PDF of art song, either with piano accompaniment or unaccompanied voice

2) The link to an online audio file, MIDI, or stream of this work sample (no expiration date please)

3) Composer’s contact info (name, email address, phone number)

4) Bio (max. 150 words)

*Please do not submit more than three songs per composer

The $400 composer fee will be allocated to the following costs:

▪ Recording: $90 (45 minutes per song)

▪ Editing, Mixing, and Mastering: $120

▪ Singer: $100

▪ Pianist: $70

▪ Other minor expenses: $20 (piano tuning, printing, etc.)
