About Our Team

Matthew Peckham, Founder

Contact: matt@peckhammp.com

Matthew Peckham is a multi-disciplinary artist and entrepreneur. With over a decade of experience in producing, recording, and performing, he knows live events inside and out.

Matthew founded Peckham Media Productions in response to the sudden demand for recording and streaming during the early months of the COVID 19 pandemic, and he now spends his workdays providing those services for businesses, schools, and performing arts organizations. His diverse clientele include Northwestern University, Chicago Fringe Opera, Chicago Public Schools, TEDx Wrigleyville, and scores of other individuals and organizations in the Chicagoland area.

Also at home as a studio engineer, Matthew has album credits on Naxos Music Library, Spotify, iTunes, and all other major streaming platforms. He has engineered world premiere recordings for multiple operas, including Daron Hagen’s opera films Orson Rehearsed and 9/10: Love Before the Fall, along with a live performance album series for Thompson Street Opera Company, where he served as a board member from 2016 - 2020. Recent commercial album releases include Dana Brown and Michelle Areyzaga’s art song album "Were I With Thee," featuring words penned by women and set by American composers, and Alexis Enyart’s folk album "Witness," a musical exploration of transgender identity.

Matthew holds two degrees in music (BM University of Michigan ‘12, MM Chicago College of Performing Arts ‘15). After leaving school, Matthew spent five years at Atlas Arts Media, where he learned videography and recording engineering while assisting with the capture of 200+ performances a year at Roosevelt University’s music conservatory. From there he went on to apprentice with master recording engineers Christopher Willis (Lyric Opera of Chicago, Music of the Baroque) and Hudson Fair (WFMT Radio). Matthew is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and the Audio Engineering Society (AES)

Alongside his musical and technical training, Matthew has over a decade of experience in the management of performing arts and non-profit organizations. He served on the Executive Board of the University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society (Marketing Chair 2010-12, President 2012-13), Co-founded of the Chicago Vocal Arts Consortium in 2015, and served on the inaugural board of Thompson Street Opera Company (Vice President 2016-18, President 2018-20)

Press

“Textures positively glow; the complexities and depth of this “dream opera” keep on revealing themselves on repeated listenings. That, and the sheer excellence of both cast (perfectly chosen) and recording (crystal clear, with a great sense of perspective). There is something about world premiere recordings; they have a particular vibrancy, and this release has that in spades. From every angle, this is a sure-fire winner.”

Colin Clarke, reviewing Orson Rehearsed

Fanfare, November 2021

“That the material is brought vividly to life by Areyzaga's stirring soprano, which veritably soars throughout the recording, and Brown's sensitive accompaniment makes the recording all the more special. Whether singing at a hush or declaiming ecstatically at full volume, Areyzaga makes a powerful impression, and Brown shows himself to be an ever-empathetic and supportive partner.”
